1. Switzerland
Switzerland is known as a land of cheese and chocolate, but did you know it's also home to some of the best cannabis growers? In fact, they have been growing cannabis for over 400 years! Swiss farmers produce about 80% of the world's medical marijuana.
2. Netherlands
The Dutch government permits people to cultivate certain amounts of pot for personal use. Most local authorities do not perform regular inspections, however, so it is difficult to trace back ownership to individual growers. Cannabis is grown in rich soils that provide lots of nutrients. On top of that, the climate is much easier on the plants than in places like California or Colorado.
3. Spain
In recent years, Spain has become a global hub for high-quality, medicinal grade cannabis products. Growers in the south of the country thrive on producing potent hybrids that are low in THC and extremely high in CBD content. Cannabinoid-rich hemp seeds are spread across the Mediterranean country and planted in both dry and humid regions.
4. Australia
Cannabis cultivation was invented in Australia. Today, the nation produces almost half of the cannabis consumed in the United States. A lot of the Australian industry runs underground, however, making it difficult to trace where each product comes from. Many of the growers who work with us don't even realize how popular their crops are.
5. Germany
Germany grows a small amount of cannabis for industrial purposes. But, its production model doesn't make it viable for recreational use. Like many European countries, the German government monitors cannabis consumption and distribution. We're looking forward to the day we can bring our favorite strains to Europe!
6. Canada
Canada is the only G7 country that has legalized cannabis nationwide. When Canadians buy pot at licensed stores, they often head north to grow their own. There are three main types of Canadian cannabis: Sativa, Indica, and Ruderalis. Each type of strain affects the consumer differently. Sativas increase appetite while Indicas cause relaxation. Ruderalis are great for pain relief.
7. Austria
Austria grows cannabis for medical purposes. While the agriculture ministry does allow for cultivation, it does not permit any commercialization. Instead, doctors recommend patients grow their own medicine.
