Have you always wanted a beautiful travel map? Have you always wanted to save your travel memories in one place?
You’ve just gone on the trip of a lifetime - lucky you! Now that you’re back, you’re eager to share your amazing stories and photos with friends and family. But how do you organize yourself? How do you talk about your fantastic vacation in a way that doesn’t make you sound like a broken record? We know the struggle.
Now, there’s an easy way for you to create a map of your travels and save all your travel memories on Worldee. This is the perfect platform for you to upload photos and write descriptions and stories. You’ll finally be able to present your trip to the world in a dynamic and understandable way. And you'll also have place to save all those countries and cities you have visited onto a beautiful map. Pretty sweet, right?
Not sure where to start? We’ve put together some simple steps you can follow to create your travel map and save your memories on Worldee.
How to Create Your Travel Map and Save Your Travel Memories
Start by adding your trip
From the Worldee home page, click the pin with the plus sign in the top right corner. You’ll then be presented with 2 options: “add previous trip” or “plan a new trip.” You’ve already been on vacation, so choose “add previous trip.”
Enter the basics
You’ll be prompted to enter some basic information about your trip. Give your trip a name, write a trip description, and set your travel dates. You can even add a travel buddy (if they’re not already on Worldee, send them a referral link!).
Add a video
Did you have a GoPro with you on the trip? Take some videos on your phone? Edit together a little montage of photos? Under the basic trip information but above the upload photos option, find the “add trip video” option on the right. You can either upload a video file straight from your computer or link to a YouTube video.
Upload photos
The next step is to upload some photos. Once you choose photos to upload, Worldee will automatically check them for date and time information. If it’s attached, Worldee will organize them into the correct places in your itinerary and on your brand new beautiful travel map. If Worldee can’t find it, then your photos will show up as “unassigned.” You’ll have to manually enter where and when they were taken but that’s pretty easy, too.
If you want to bypass the uncertainty, navigate straight to “set trip manually” underneath the “upload photos” option. This will give you the option to upload photos one place at a time as you’re filling out your itinerary.
Start with day 1
At the top of Day 1 on the itinerary you can write a description of your day. Whether it’s a short blurb about your favorite part of the day or a funny story, personalize it! Make it fun and engaging so you’ll remember the day as clearly as you can when you look back.
Under the description, you can start adding places to the map. What city were you in? What attractions did you visit? Enter the places you visited that day and upload photos to go with them. On each photo you upload, hover over it to see a few options. Marking it as the “place photo” will make it show up as the cover photo of that itinerary item. Marking it as the “day photo” will make it show up as the cover photo of that day. Or, feel free to simply write a comment or a caption for each picture you upload. Get creative with it!
You can even write stop descriptions under each individual site you visited. This is the place to record any funny stories or memorable things you did there. Once you add a place, it will show up on the map below with a numbered green pin. Entered something in the wrong order? Just click and drag the itinerary items to readjust. The map will automatically adjust to reflect the changes you make to your itinerary.
Once you add several places, choose the mode of transportation you used to get from point A to point B. The route will show up connecting these two places on the map.
Add another day
When you’re done with day one, choose “add a day” below. You will then be prompted to add your accommodation for the night. Whether you stayed in a hotel, went camping, or took overnight transport, jot it down. Afterwards, you can fill in the things you did on day 2 the same way you did with day 1. Fill out each subsequent day in this manner. If you need to take a break, choose “save and close” in the bottom left corner. This will save your progress and allow you to return to your trip at any time.
Publish Trip
When you’re satisfied with the itinerary you’ve created, click “publish trip” in the bottom right corner. You’ll then be taken to the completed overview. Your trip name, travel dates, travel buddies, and the map will be on display for everyone to see. Your trip at a glance will also be visible at the top of the page. This includes the number of photos, the number of places you visited, and how far you traveled.
Below is the itinerary you put together, complete with your photos and each attraction you visited with their respective descriptions. At the bottom of the page, you’ll be able to see how many people have liked your trip. Other travelers can also comment on your trip, which you’ll find here, as well. If you want your trip to be visible beyond Worldee, hit “share” to post your completed trip on Facebook.
If you remember something you missed, you can always go back and edit the trip at any time.
Useful Tips:
Converting a Trip
Did you use Worldee’s trip-planning feature to plan this vacation? No need to enter all the details manually, then! You can go ahead and skip all the steps above. Go to your trip concept (found on your profile page) and click “convert to a trip” at the top right. This will carry over all the details from your itinerary. Of course, there may have been some unplanned changes, so edit the itinerary as you please before publishing.
Share with friends and family!
No matter how you created your travel map and saved your memories on Worldee, you now have your completed trip. Sure, it’s fun for you to look back and reminisce, but you should share it with others, too. Send friends and loved ones a link. This way, they can check out everything you did and all the photos you took on their own time. This will also save you from having to tell your amazing stories over and over again.
